This is quite a challenge, but it is possible! You can enjoy your fast food but watch your intake of calories.
The most important “bad” calories are the fat calories.
There are good fats and there are less good fats. Some are even evil fats that have to be avoided in any case.
How do you know which ones are good for you?
You may know that heated fats are no good in general. They create components that develop bad linings in your blood vessels.
These linings are called cholesterol.
There are also two types of cholesterol. One is the good type and one is the dangerous type. Obviously heated fat does not create good cholesterol. It creates the one you should avoid.
To speak about fast food and calorie rich foods can mean the same thing. There are, nowadays, many fast foods that try to provide you with a healthy meal thus avoiding bad calories.
They will serve you a fresh salad (that is quickly prepared and contains fiber rich raw vegetables and salads, some salt, maybe pepper and oil.) It can be a seed oil, like sunflower oil that is also very healthy. Do not eat mayonnaise. You never know what it contains.
The bread used in most fast food chains does give you only empty calories. If you can avoid eating it, just eat the hamburger and the salad. If you absolutely need some bread, buy it at a baker’s shop or in a supermarket where you can find other types of bread, possibly brown ones that contain wholegrain flour. You can have a milk shake. Milk contains fat but most shakes are made of less fatty milk that give you fewer calories. You should stay away from milkshakes that contain artificial colors or flavors. If they contain fruit, it is fine. Fruit is almost never calorie rich and their calories are healthy and few.
The worst thing to eat in a fast food but also the most served are French fries. They can really do a lot of harm to you. They are fried in continuously hot fat or oil that is overheated and produces therefore substances that become dangerous as they contribute to the creation of cancer.
Hence, if you cannot avoid to eat in a fast food restaurant, be aware of what to stay away from: French fries. Eat tapas instead. They do not have a great amount of calories and fat but still contain some grain.
Eat the hamburger without the cheese that is pure fat and mostly not of good quality.
There is a certain choice in every fast food chain. Choose wisely, now that you know which foods you have to avoid. Whenever you can add some fresh fruit, do it. It helps to lower the impact of fat and heavy calories.
